How Can I Receive Assistance?
If you need help, call our helpline at 530-671-7344. All clients must go through an intake process, and you must be a resident of the Yuba-Sutter Area.
What Happens During the Intake Process?
We’ll ask about you a few details about your current crisis. Be prepared to provide some documentation, including copies of bills related to your request, proof of household expenses, and personal identification (such as a driver’s license. I.D. or passport).
Is C.A.N. Affiliated With a Specific Church?
No. While our members come from various local churches, C.A.N. is not officially tied to any single church or religious organization.
Can Someone Receive Help More Than Once?
Yes, but we focus on helping during times of crisis, not ongoing support. If a family needs help again, the situation must be different, and one month must have passed since their last request.
Is There a Limit to the Assistance You Provide?
Our resources are limited, so we assess each case individually. We base our decisions on the client’s needs, our available resources, and what will best serve everyone involved.
Are There Other Organizations Like C.A.N. in the Area?
Yes
What is an Intake Interview?
It’s a 15–20 minute meeting where we gather important details about your situation to help us determine how we can best assist you.
What If I’m Uncomfortable Answering Intake Questions?
We completely understand that some questions may feel personal. However, our By-Laws require the intake process for us to offer assistance. The more information you provide, the better we can help.
What Happens If My Request Is Denied?
If we can’t assist you, we’ll provide information on other organizations that might be able to help with your specific situation. While we can’t guarantee their services, we do our best to connect you with additional resources.
